A Godless World
The following is stolen 99% from the Forgotten Realms campaign setting. The names are changed, cuz I didn’t want to cross over to 100%.
The Daenarian Calendar encompasses 365 days, making up a single year. These days are broken up into 12 months, each 30 days long. Because of this, each week is ten days long, and each month is made of three weeks. The remaining 5 days occur between the months and are holidays. Every 4th year there is a 6th holiday.
Winter’s Feast – Winter Solstice
Festival of Rejuvenation – Start of Spring (near Equinox, not always on it)
Shortest Night – Summer Solstice
Recovery Remembrance -Leap Day
Harvest Eve – Start of Fall (near Equinox, not always on it)
Years End, Years Start -New Years Eve/Day
Because of the relative youth of Civilization, and the loss of information, the numbering system for counting years is very simple.
The founding of Naramunz, and thus the solidification of national boarders, is designated the End of the Recovery, having occurred in 0 AR (After the Recovery). Anything before that is designated as DR (During the Recovery), and counts backwards (ie 1 DR occurs more recently than 10 BR). However, due to the lack of record keeping during the Recovery, there is essentially no need to go beyond 100 DR.
As of the start of the ‘Thieves in a Godless World’ Campaign Arc, the year is 167 AR.
